Short version: We’re taking December off.
Slightly longer version: A district as diverse and intertwined with so many other parts of the city is difficult to talk about in a way that does all of its people, institutions, and businesses justice. So, we’re working on a few things that will come out a lot better if we focus only only on new ideas and their implementation, rather than trying to publish a blog and make major changes.
We’ll see you in January; have a wonderful holiday season.

Our friends at Center City District have released some fascinating information about the redesign plans for Dilworth Plaza. The new Plaza promises to be more environmentally friendly (26% greater tree canopy, which decreases both ambient temperature and stormwater in the sewer system), will integrate with SEPTA’s station work, and is expected to create more than 1,000 jobs over the projected 30-month lifespan of the project. (Project completion is scheduled for fall 2013.)
It’s not all about green space, however, as the plans include a winter ice skating rink and an outdoor concert venue. Not bad, huh?
What do you think of the plan? Will the changes impact your commute, the time you spend downtown on The Avenue, or some other aspect of your day?
And to all of our Jewish friends, we wish you a happy start to Hanukkah.
